Patchwork Update

The Trustees are pleased to announce that Sajidah Patel has been appointed as CEO of the Patchwork Foundation. Saj will lead Patchwork’s mission to strengthen democracy by giving young people from underrepresented communities the opportunity to develop the skills, experience and confidence they need to play an active part in public life and civil society in the UK.

Saj is a former Patchworker, who herself benefitted from Patchwork’s programmes, before going on to lead the Naz Legacy Foundation for seven years.

Claire Eadington, who served as the CEO of Patchwork Foundation, has recently stepped down to pursue new opportunities. The Trustees thank Claire for her work putting the organisation on a sustainable pathway for growth and wish her every success for the future.

We are also looking forward to welcoming six new Trustees in September. Patchwork Alumni, Janira Borges, Permanent Secretary at MHCLG, Sarah Healey CB CVO, Director of Programmes at The Guardian Foundation, Esmat Jeraj, Director at City of London Corporation, Damian Nussbaum, Partner and Vice Chair of KPMG, Simon Ranger and International Pro Bono Partner at Hogan Lovells, Yasmin Waljee OBE.

Sajidah Patel said: “As a proud alumni of the Patchwork Foundation, I am honoured to be appointed as the new CEO. I look forward to collaborating with the Patchwork team, current and incoming trustees, and the Alumni Leadership Council to rejuvenate the organisation and unlock its potential. In these challenging times, where so many feel vulnerable and unheard, it is imperative that we engage with the most underrepresented segments of our society and support their development towards active participation in civil society. I am committed to positioning the Patchwork Foundation as a key catalyst in this essential effort.”
